"Asotin Washington is not a ghost town. It is a community with a

courthouse, gas stations, and schools. I live 5 miles away from it in

Clarkston. Please update your site and remove this inaccuracy.

Thank You" - C.W.

Depending on exactly which reference you accept, a "ghost town" is described as a town that has lost its primary founding industry and has lost at least 80 percent of its high population count. Therefore, a town does not have to be a classic movie set-type ghost town to be labeled as such. In some cases, a renewed influx of people will "upgrade" a run-down town. But, the history of the town remains, none the less. Tombstone, Arizona is a good example of this. Since Asotin is listed in at least one publication as a ghost town, it will remain here with your letter and this description. Who knows, maybe somebody may want to visit there. -Mark Prewitt
