Blackbeard the Pirate dumped a timber and brick "safe" with treasure inside overboard in Pamlico Inlet. It was later found, but may still contain additional valuables. May also be in Hyde or Pamlico Counties.

Two fishermen that found the above treasure buried three pots of gold coins in a nearby Cyprus grove. One died and the second could not relocate the cache.
