  • A prospector named "Lawrence," traveling south toward the Colorado River from the old O.D. Gass ranch, found what turned out to be diamonds in an area of volcanic rock formations. The "blue streak of mud" determined the exact location which he was never able to find again.

  • The Lost Skillet Mine is said to be located near Searchlight. The mine  was discovered by a mining engineer, but after taking samples to have assayed, he was never able to find the rich ledge again.

  • A German named Mashbird found a ledge of "horn silver with free gold" in the McCullough Mountains, after being attacked by an Indian. After recovery from his wounds, he was never able to relocate the ledge.

  • A cave with an abundance of water, and black sand filled with gold nuggets coating the cave floor is said to be located between Tuscarora and Searchlight.

  • A rich source of gold ore, assaying out at $1,000 a ton, is said to be located near Devil's Peak. Ore from this ledge was supposedly found around the bodies of five dead men near the peak.
