  • Bodie

15 miles north of Wauconda

Bodie was a milling town for surrounding mines. Located on Todora Creek, it boasted a general store, post office, cookhouse, bunkhouse and hotel. Bodie went ghost in the 1940's.

Ghost Towns of the Northwest


  • Bolster

20 miles east of Oroville

More or less a mining town, Bolster challenged Chesaw for "big city" of the area. It had three general stores, three saloons, 30 homes, and various other businesses, school, and of course, the Bolster Drill, the newspaper. Finally, the town went ghost about 1920.

Ghost Towns of the Northwest


  • Disautel

15 miles east of Omak

Disautel was a logging town. The town had several businesses including a garage, store, railroad, and a barn for logging operations. As of last writing, one resident remained.

  • Molson

10 miles east of Oroville

Moslon was a mining town for the Poland China Gold Mine. The town had a bank, general store, post office, and several other buildings. The town went ghost about 1955.

  • Old Toroda

12 miles northwest of Republic

Old Toroda was a mining camp. IT had a post office, blacksmith and several other businesses.

  • Sheridan

10 miles northeast of Republic

Sheridan was a mining camp. The town a mill, had a bunkhouse, cookhouse, hotel, and the usual business support for a mining camp. The town went ghost when the mines closed.
