  • A rancher named Casner hid his money in trees in holes he supposedly drilled himself. When he retired and left the area, he did not take much with him, speculating that he could not find most of the money he had hidden. A tree with $1,000 hidden in it was found after a lightning strike.

  • A rich placer deposit worked by a Mexican is supposed to be located on a high black mesa overlooking a rugged canyon. It is generally believed to be in the area of Rock Springs along Black Canyon Highway.

  • An Englishman named Byron D. P. Duppa and Andrew Starar, both ranchers in the Salt River Valley, are said to have found a silver mine in the Bradshaw Mountains, but neither was interested in working it. Both died without revealing the location.

  • A cache of gold nuggets, hurriedly buried due to Indian attack, is said to lie in the vicinity of Camp Verde, under a boulder along a stream at the base of a mountain.

  • Chalmer Harper, a cowboy working 50 miles north of Prescott, found a rich deposit of gold in Smith Canyon and marked the site with a deer's head he earlier shot. He died before being able to relocate the site.
